IN THE MOOD for a romantic comedy this weekend?

You’re in luck as The Incredible Jessica James starring Jessica Williams and our very own Chris O’Dowd hits Netflix tomorrow and looks rather charming.

The Incredible Jessica James tells the story of a young woman (Jessica Williams) at a professional and romantic crossroads who strikes up a romantic dalliance with a man (Chris O’Dowd).

You may recognise Jessica Williams as one half of 2 Dope Queens and from her work on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

And we all know Chris O’Dowd!

The film also stars Noel Wells (Master of None) and Lakeith Stanfield (Atlanta).

The rom-com premiered at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year where it picked up overwhelmingly positive reviews. (It currently boasts a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.)

The New York Post praised the chemistry between O’Dowd and Williams.

But casting makes all the difference, and Williams and co-star Chris O’Dowd (“Bridesmaids”) bounce off each other with a sparky, sarcastic chemistry, while Lakeith Stanfield (also at Sundance in “Crown Heights”) plays the ex who makes frequent, ill-fated appearances in Jessica’s imagination.

While The Wrap commended it for subverting rom-com norms.

While there is certainly romance and comedy here, “Jessica James” gently subverts the romantic comedy genre by being more about finding oneself and one’s voice than attaining lasting love.

A sassy, smart rom-com with a strong female lead and a likeable love interest?
